The WADIS has been established on May 29th, 2012 at Chonnam National University in South Korea. Firstly, the preparatory committee of the WADIS was formed and 145 promoters recommended by March, 2012. Then, with the promoters’ fully support, the inaugural [first general] meeting held on May 29th, 2012 successfully.
At the inaugural meeting, Professor Chang-mo Choi, Konkuk University, South Korea was elected as an acting chairman. The constitution of the WADIS has been approved in accordance with the procedure. Furthermore, the president and two auditors have been elected and the WADIS has been established officially.
Besides, the meeting was followed by congratulatory address from Prof. Absattarov Raushanbek (Kazakhstan, Kazakh National Pedagogical University), Prof. Uzi Rebhun (Israel, Hebrew University) and Prof. Yeoh Kok Kheng (Malaysia, University of Malaya).
The WADIS will arrange seminar, conference and publish Journal of Global Diaspora Studies. We hope, the WADIS will be a great platform for diaspora scholars to cooperate and collaborate research all over the world.
